BAROQUE BRONZE CHANDELIER, POLAND, MID-18TH CENTURY.An extraordinary piece of traditional craftsmanship. This impressive, hand forged chandelier is made of solid bronze and originates from Poland, crafted in a blacksmith's workshop during the mid 18th century. Combining artistic design with symbolic depth and meticulous detailing, the chandelier is a rare testament to the refined decorative arts of its time. The central shaft is accentuated by a striking reflective orb and features a finely executed baluster style articulation, reminiscent of classical architectural motifs. At the top of the column, a sculptural animal figure a gracefully engraved stag serves as a symbolic finial. Midway up the shaft, a musician with a wind instrument is depicted in relief, possibly referencing festive or sacred contexts. Crowning the piece is a three-part winged structure with a trefoil-shaped suspension ring, both functional and ornamental in character. The chandelier's six elegantly curved arms hold slightly concave drip pans that serve as candle holders. All elements are skillfully slotted and assembled using traditional joinery methods, including tongue and groove connections and square mortises. Each component bears craftsman’s marks, reflecting the meticulous handwork involved.
