BRUTALIST TABLE HANDCRAFTED SOAPED OAK BENCH, 1960S.
This heavy, handcrafted bench made from 100% solid oak wood stands out for its raw, sculptural presence. The solid wood has been finished in a traditional soaped method. This satin finish naturally protects the surface, barely darkens or alters the wood's color, and preserves the extremely bright, raw, and Scandinavian character of the oak. With a substantial length of 207.7 cm, a generous width of 62.5 cm, and a low height of 42.7 cm, this piece functions flexibly as a freestanding bench or as a flat, deep lowboard for showcasing objects, art, and lighting within a space. The craftsmanship is honest and completely traditional: the massive, star-shaped curved legs sit directly beneath the top and can be rotated freely to adjust their orientation in the room. An integrated wooden dowel serves as a secure lock, ensuring the construction remains absolutely stable and nothing shifts. Due to its low-profile design and solid dimensions, this table integrates harmoniously into any living space as a timeless design object. The item is in excellent, pristine gallery condition.
