SWEDISH DOUBLE BED AND BEDSIDE TABLES IN OILED PINE WOOD, ATTRIBUTED TO THE DESIGNER ROLAND WILHELMSSON, 1980S, SET OF 3.
The “Samso” double bed with bedside tables is crafted in the style of Roland Wilhelmsson and is distinguished by its high-quality workmanship and joinery, such as solid-wood dowels. The organically curved shapes and gentle transitions give the piece of furniture a dynamic elegance and integrate seamlessly into the overall design.
Inspired by the Danish island of Samsø, which lies in the middle of the sea, the flowing lines evoke an image of waves and boats safely resting in the harbor. The bed frame rests on wooden beams and is connected using wooden dowels, creating a clever and simple interlocking joining system. Each bedside table is designed from a single piece of wood, reflects the design language of the bed, and creates perfect transitions.
The set was manufactured by Inbo Sweden in the 1980s (original invoice is available). The rich color palette of the pine wood ranges from warm honey gold to silvery light brown and reddish tones, which subtly change depending on the incidence of light and create atmospheric accents. The interplay of material and function is particularly impressive in this piece.
The object has been professionally cleaned and the surfaces carefully refinished, while preserving the original appearance, original substance, and authentic character of the piece. These modern yet timeless pieces effortlessly complement a wide variety of interior styles, from classic elegance to avant-garde, and will leave a lasting impression in any room.
